Sharon Liggett, TACVB PresidentSharon Liggett: Promoting Tallahassee

By Erica Bailey

{mosimage}For Sharon Liggett, promoting Tallahassee is something that comes naturally. Although not a Tallahassee native, Liggett came here to earn a master’s degree from Florida State University and fell in love with the city.

“It was the geography and the landscape,” Liggett said, “the rolling hills, the oak trees, the general scenery . . . It’s a very comfortable place to live.”

President and CEO of the Tallahassee Area Convention and Visitors Bureau for almost a year now, Liggett’s vocation is to promote Tallahassee and make it attractive for people to visit or hold meetings and conventions here.

As Tallahassee grows, Liggett wants to use advertising to target different kinds of groups throughout the Southeast.

“A lot of people talk about what we don’t have and ignore what we do have,” she said. “There are more sides to Tallahassee than football and politics. We have the history, the culture, the ecotourism, the award-winning parks and fabulous outdoor recreation.”
