Cinco de Mayo Celebrations
We’ve rounded up what local restaurants and businesses are doing to participate in Cinco de Mayo festivities.
Just because life looks a bit different these days, it doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate — especially with margaritas and tacos in hand. We’ve rounded up what local restaurants and businesses are doing to participate in Cinco de Mayo festivities.
Madison Social supplies the party in a convenient kit that includes their ever-popular T-shirts or a tank (this time in a fun Marg Vibes theme), a 32-ounce margarita crowler and a meal of barbacoa burrito-braised beef brisket, grilled corn, queso fresco, Mexican rice, bacon black beans, salsa rojo, chips and pico de gallo. The Marg Vibes Cinco de Mayo Kit is $30 and can be picked up at Madison Social on Tuesday May, 5 from 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
While you’re at it, pick up Madison Social’s kit for the Virtual Tequila Cocktail class, and then tune in to Facebook or Instagram Live at 7 p.m. to learn how to make a tasty tequila drink. For $25, the kit includes 8.5 ounces of tequila (brand TBD), all ingredients to make each cocktail (ingredients TBD) and one cocktail glass. Items that aren’t included that you will need are: a knife, a cutting board, ice and a cocktail shaker, and a muddler or large cup to mix ingredients in. The kit makes four cocktails. Pick up your ingredients at Madison Social on Tuesday, May 5 between 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
Have your own at-home family fiesta with El Jalisco’s Cinco de Mayo family pack, which includes a taco tray with your choice of grilled chicken, steak, carnitas or chorizo, corn or flour tortillas, chips and salsa, cheese dip, and a gallon of margaritas for $60. The tray serves four. The restaurant will also be open at 25% capacity. ElJalisco.com
Market Square Liquors
On May 5, as a way to show appreciation for those serving the community, Market Square Liquors on Timberlane will be giving away 50 milliliter bottles of tequila to all first responders, medical personnel, law enforcement members and educators who come into the store. There will be 1,000 bottles available. You can also order liquor for delivery via Postamates.
Sage will be serving up a mole pork taco kit and a king ranch casserole (Mexican lasagna) meal available for pick up under the “Family Meals for 4” section. You can also pick up cocktails. The chupacabra would make for an excellent Cinco de Mayo libation. SageTallahassee.com
Il Lusso has provided a cocktail recipe for readers to make at home. The Brushfire is a libation created by the bar manager, Steven Dennis.
