Why Should Your Pet Win? My name is Cielo, which means “Heaven” because I came eerily close to going there. I found myself injured from a coyote attack and stranded in the woods with nothing to eat but dirt. I was sure this was the end, when an angel named Holly heard my meek “mew.” Holly lovingly wrapped me up and fed me actual food. She made multiple calls to rescue groups and was relieved when ECAH Animals, answered. They immediately found me a foster home and urgently needed veterinary care.

Despite my pain, I charmed everyone. The veterinary staff at Paws and Claws saved my life, but despite intense treatment, could not save my leg. Before my surgery, I remember four ECAH volunteers petting me, encouraging me to “be strong.” I was thin and feverish, so surgery was risky.

When I woke up, I searched around for my missing leg and felt a little sad, but all that is history now and I am a handsome, adoptable kitty. I may have a hint of post-traumatic stress disorder. Sometimes other cats annoy me when they don’t appreciate their four-legged privileged status. Yet I climb and do anything they can do, even with my limp. I love playing with my stuffed mouse, cuddling, and giving periodic love nips.

I deserve to be Tallahassee’s top pet so that my story will give hope to other vulnerable and homeless cats. Tallahassee is full of wonderful animal lovers, devoted rescue organizations, and skillful caring veterinarians.
