A Hand To Deck The Halls
How local garden centers can help you decorate inside and out

The holidays are a wonderful, whimsical time of year when we get to transform our homes into a winter wonderland, even in the Sunshine State. We bring down boxes from attics and search stores for new pieces to add to our collections, all to make the days and nights merry and bright.
For those who are dedicated to decorating and holiday hosting, it’s more than just stockings hung by the fire. Many homes boast extensive assemblages, contain multiple trees to decorate, and have impressive light displays in their yard.
During the holiday season, time is of the essence, and there are two one-stop shops for all things holiday. At Tallahassee Nurseries and Esposito Garden Center, you can purchase your tree, update your decor, and even hire holiday help for indoor and outdoor decorating services.
Beginning in early fall, these locations open their holiday shops and begin helping customers envision their holiday-centric home.
“We offer indoor decorating and design services for the holidays,” says Miranda Ely, outdoor Christmas lighting manager with Esposito Garden Center. “We can decorate the inside of your home with your own decorations or supply you with new things purchased in our Christmas area. We can also decorate the exterior of your home with lights, wreaths, and garlands, and light up your trees with lights and spheres.”
If you are a multifaith household celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or a combination, they can help by working with local stores like The Spinning Dreidel or using your own previously purchased decor to beautifully merge the holidays.
“Our Cottage [holiday gift shop] designers are here to help bring custom visions to life using thoughtful color combinations and stylistic choices that represent any holiday,” says Melissa Hutchinson, marketing and outreach director for Tallahassee Nurseries. “We aspire to embrace unity this season and celebrate the importance of togetherness in all of the decorations and services we offer.”
Any and every form of holiday decor can be found at either location, including a selection of thousands of ornaments, candles, nativities, tree toppers, runners, place settings, and more.
“You really have to experience it to see it all,” says Ely.
And of course, much of celebrating Christmas revolves around the tree. Both locations offer fresh-cut trees in a variety of sizes. Once you’ve made your selection, they will hold the tree for you, deliver it, or even set it up inside your home.
“Every year, we receive a gorgeous selection of premium, fresh-cut Christmas trees from a farm in North Carolina,” says Hutchinson. “The nursery takes on an old-school Christmas tree shop feel, with a staff ready to make it the easiest tree experience one could ask for.”
Deck the halls, hearth, and everything in between with fresh garland and custom wreaths. The staff is on standby to add ribbons, bows, and all desired decor to your custom greenery.
While the holiday gift shops are impressive and the decorating staff is skilled, these businesses truly shine in their garden and outdoor departments.
If you’re hosting for the holidays, consider custom floral arrangements for the tablescape or placing poinsettias, Christmas cactus, or Rudolph philodendrons around the house.
From the inside to the outside, two of Tallahassee’s most trusted businesses can make your holiday season effortless and beautiful. Rather than shopping big-box stores with run-of-the-mill decor, when you shop at Esposito Garden Center or Tallahassee Nurseries, you are securing unique flourishes for your home and supporting local businesses during the time of year when it matters most.
