If you’re seeking a skin solution that encompasses many different treatments, definitely ask your dermatologist about Morpheus8. Aqua Medical Spa/Dermatology Specialists of Florida in Tallahassee offers this minimally invasive rejuvenation treatment that includes a wealth of benefits.

Morpheus8 is an FDA-approved treatment that uses radio frequency (RF) and microneedling to treat skin concerns, including wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, scarring, acne scarring, enlarged pores and other texture irregularities.

Traditional microneedling uses tiny needles to create small channels in your skin, triggering a natural healing process that produces new collagen, one of the key elements of youthful skin.

“Collagen is a building block to our skin, but after your early-to-mid 20s, our ability to produce it slows,” said Caroline Mahoney, aesthetician at Aqua Medical Spa in Tallahassee.

The radio frequency (RF) energy found in Morpheus8 takes things a step further, remodeling and rebuilding the collagen by penetrating the dermis and epidermis, reaching subcutaneous tissue (fat), and improving results.

Patients will need to participate in a complimentary consultation where the aesthetician will assess any conditions, goals and expectations to determine whether the patient is a good candidate for the treatment.

The treatment is most commonly performed on the face but can also be used on the neck, décolletage, abdomen, thighs, legs, buttocks and most places where stretch marks and cellulite occur. Morpheus8 is safe for all skin types and works best for those ages 30 and older.

On the day of the procedure, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the area. Within about 30 minutes, the cream desensitizes the area, reducing any sensations from the radio frequency and microneedling.

The most common side effect is erythema, however, other associated side effects include,  but are not limited to, edema, pinpoint bleeding, scabbing, minor bruising, and dry & flaky skin with the possibility of others. Redness can be expected following the procedure, but once it fades, patients notice visible results in just a few days. The full effects are apparent within three weeks.

Most patients elect for three to six treatments. The client will come in once every 4-6 weeks until their package is done. Once that package is up, maintenance treatments are suggested once or twice yearly.
