“We are so thrilled to welcome Tallahassee residents, business professionals and visitors into our brand-new American bistro,” said Ashley Chaney, owner and founder of Hayward House. “Hayward House will be the perfect location for professionals looking to network and discuss business, couples looking for a sophisticated and inviting date night spot or family and friends looking to celebrate exciting life milestones.”

Hayward House is the newest local restaurant to join the historic downtown Tallahassee community. Chaney was joined by the Hayward House team, including managing partner Steven Brown to cut the ribbon and open its doors to the public.

The ribbon cutting celebration included Mayor John Dailey, Representative Sam Garrison, Katrina Tuggerson of the Capital City Chamber of Commerce, members of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber and the Florida Chamber, and close family and friends.

“I cannot think of anywhere else that I would rather be than here opening up this restaurant,” shared Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey. “Tallahassee is one big family, and we love to support each other, especially our local businesses. The local business community is the bedrock of our economy. This corner is truly historic, and we know the tradition of excellence will be continued here at Hayward House.”

“For those of us who come here seasonally, Tallahassee becomes our second home,” said Representative Sam Garrison. “Any capital city you visit in the country, there are always one or two places that become a part of the fabric — not just of the local community but of the capitol — that is the place to come and meet. What the Chaneys are doing here is not just important for the local economy, but also for the state. I personally cannot wait to come and enjoy it.”

“Ashley, you did it, girl,” shared Tuggerson of the Capital City Chamber of Commerce. “It means something to our community, and that’s what Tallahassee is about.”

The Hayward House menu is a culinary blend of fresh flavors, drawing on the tradition of family recipes and inspiration from travels abroad. Steven Brown highlighted the exciting dining selection.

“The Hayward House menu offers a fusion of culinary delights, such as whipped feta and eggplant katsu, foreign flare including steak frites and poutine, and Southern favorites like buttermilk fried chicken,” said Brown. “It will be difficult for anyone to pick a favorite dish.”

Hayward House offers a delectable selection of craft cocktails including a Tupelo Old Fashioned, the Hayward Negroni Spritz and a sweet and spicy tequila-based cocktail known as the Rascal Yard, served fresh from the bar. Guests can also select from a refined wine list with varieties from France, Argentina, Italy, Napa Valley and more.

The menu looks as good as the brand-new interiors at Hayward House. Completely remodeled by owner Ashley Chaney, the main dining room is anchored by a beautiful, custom 360-degree bar. The paneled walls and brass fixtures give off a modern-classic vibe. Velvet and leather booths will make any guest feel at home.

Chaney drew inspiration from the history of the corner at South Adams and West Jefferson Street. The restaurant was once the house of Dr. Thomas Hayward and his family in the 1920s. Chaney created Hayward House to capture the warmth and inviting nature of home in a chic bistro setting.
