Tony Weaver, MD
Dr. Weaver joined Eye Associates of Tallahassee in 1990; he was born in Orlando, Florida, and raised in Austin, Texas. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University, earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1986 and completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.
Dr. Weaver was the first doctor in our area to implant the Vivity IOL, the latest generation of cataract implants. He has previously been honored to be one of the “original 20” surgeons chosen to implant the Crystalens, the first and only FDA approved accommodating intraocular lens. He was also the first doctor in our area to implant the ReSTOR, ReSTOR Active Focus, ReSTOR Toric IOL, and PanOptix IOL, the first trifocal implant designed to give you near, intermediate, and distance vision.
Dr. Weaver has been listed in the Best of Tallahassee edition of Tallahassee Magazine, has served as President of Capital Medical Society, and House Delegate for the Florida Medical Association. He is a Clinical Professor for the FSU School of Medicine and the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Family Medicine and Internal Medicine program. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, FMA, and the Florida Ophthalmology Society. He is also a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
He has volunteered with the World Lens Project, Surgical Eye Expeditions International (SEE International), and Medical Ministry International, traveling to third-world countries to perform eye surgery. He also participates in Children’s Medical Services, Blind Services, Knight’s Templar, Lion’s Eye, and We Care Network.
Dr. Weaver is an avid mountain biker and enjoys spending time with his wife, boys, and his very smart Australian Shepard, Caymus.
