Dr McDermott has recently joined the practice at North Florida Pediatrics. From childhood she had a desire to care for others- especially children and animals- so becoming a pediatrician fell perfectly into place. She completed Medical school at Ross University School of Medicine and residency at T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. She enjoys all aspects of primary care and working with children of all ages, especially helping parents navigate the different stages of childhood and adolescence. She is especially passionate about newborn care/breastfeeding, weight management/healthy lifestyles, and preventive medicine. Outside of work she spends most of her time with her husband and playing with their 5 children. As a strong believer in parents as the first teachers she enjoys interactive play, reading, music, simple art projects and outdoor play with them. Dr. McDermott also loves traveling (especially if there is a beach in involved!), working in her yard/garden and practicing yoga. Although originally from the midwest, Dr. McDermott is so happy to be calling sunny Florida home.
