Top Single Profile: Sara Kate Johnson

Sara Kate Johnson, 24

Occupation: Creative Image Associate, Coton Colors

Charity: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Q&A

Why did you choose this charity to support? St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a charity that is very personal to me. My family and our family’s business have had the honor of sharing a partnership that has become a close friendship with St. Jude for over 10 years that started when they approached my mom about designing products based on patient’s artwork to raise funds for the hospital. We have been lucky enough to share a partnership with the hospital ever since.

St. Jude’s mission is to advance cures and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Unlike any other hospital, over 75% of St. Jude’s funding comes from individual contributions. Thanks to generous donors, patient’s families never, and I mean, never receive a bill from St. Jude. With the daily cost to keep St. Jude running budgeted at over $2 million every day, that’s huge!

What is the main character trait you look for in a potential date? Good humor and intelligence, someone I could have an easy, interesting conversation with.

What is the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done? I’ve jumped off a cliff into the ocean in the Virgin Islands, but to be fair, that was mainly because I was hungry and didn’t want to climb all the way back down.

If you could choose to stay a certain age forever, what would it be and why? I wouldn't want to stay a certain age forever. I wouldn’t like to stay the same for eternity, because things change and they could always get better. Growing up is life’s greatest adventure, and I wouldn’t want to give that up.

What would you prefer to do for a living if money was not a factor? I would become a full-time artist and I would tour the world, taking photos and writing stories about all my travels.

If you could travel back in time and meet yourself as a 10-year-old kid, what advice would you give yourself? Mom and dad are right. About everything. Also, invest in Facebook.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be and why? Ina Garten. How much fun would it be to host a party with the Barefoot Contessa herself?

What do you consider your BEST attribute? I’m very personable and kind. I think I am easy to talk to and I can make people feel comfortable.

What is your most distinctive characteristic? I think it would have to be my creativity.

What is your motto? Cheers!

What is your favorite thing to do on the weekend? Spending time with my family and friends at our beach house in Alligator Point. Or when I’m in town, I love going to brunch at the Uptown Café with friends.

What do you believe your greatest accomplishment in life is? I don’t think it’s happened yet, but when it does, it’s going to be great!

What is at the very top of your bucket list? I want to live in France. I want to have a house in the French countryside, learn to cook French cuisine, go on wine tours, learn the beautiful language and visit all the places so many famous artists have found inspiration and paint.

Do you have any hidden talents? If so, what? I don’t know about hidden talents, because I can be pretty vocal about anything I’m even vaguely good at…BUT I can make the world’s best margarita. (don’t try to fight me on this)

Are you a morning person or night owl? Night owl! I do all my best thinking at night, and my best sleeping in the morning.

What’s your lucky charm? The number 3.

Are you one to kiss on the first date?  Yes, unless he gives me a good reason to duck.

What is your favorite Netflix binge series? This is cheating because it’s not on Netflix, but I LOVE binge-watching Downton Abbey.

What’s your bad habit? What’s your good habit? My worst habit is that I am always, always, always late to everything, that and the fact that I tend to fall asleep before the pizza guy gets to my house…
My good habit is my hospitality. Oh and I read a lot!

What’s a relationship deal-breaker for you? Disrespect. For the wait-staff. For their mother. For women, or men, or anyone who might have different opinions than your own. Disrespect without reason is very unattractive.

Facebook, Twitter or Instagram? Instagram

What’s your favorite splurge/indulgence? Food. I will always splurge on good food.

What’s your favorite magazine? Tallahassee Magazine. *wink wink*

Which celebrity do you most resemble? Hmm, I don’t know. What do you think?

At which sport do you most excel? Lol. No.

I’d love to have back all the time I’ve spent … Procrastinating….

I regret that I have no talent for … Music. I really wish I could read music, play an instrument and sing.

What is your most treasured possession? My memories.

What quality do you most admire in people? I really admire great storytellers. I really wish I had the ability to tell even a mundane story and make it hysterical and captivating.

Perfection is so overrated. Oh and 3D movies.
